I joined Tracxn in 2015 as a software engineer. I am VP of Technology now. Most of the job is the team, the hiring and what we build next. I still write a lot of code.

Right now that code is a customer-facing AI assistant over private-market data, and 106 word-sized chart types built on my own time.

the Big Bang, 13.8 bn years agoThe outermost mark, and where the groove starts. Eight more milestones sit inside the first dot of the flat field, on a ruler of their own running from Planck time to recombination.

Earth forms, 4.54 bn years agoHalf a turn from the Big Bang, and that half turn is nine billion years. The same half turn beside the centre is about three weeks.

Snowball Earth, c. 717 m years agoA turn and a bit in. Only 85 of the 1,040 milestones fall in the first section at all, which is why the outer turns are the empty ones.

the Chicxulub impact, 66 m years ago66 million years is the last half a per cent of a linear timeline. Here it is a fifth of the way in, because every power of ten is given the same width of paper.

out of Africa, c. 65,000 years agoFive turns in, and the marks start to crowd. 258 of the milestones fall in the last ten thousand years, which is the last four turns.

the oldest wheel, c. 3200 BCEThe Ljubljana Marsh wheel, six turns in. Written history begins about here, and 312 of the 1,040 milestones fall in the last thousand years alone.

the World Wide Web, 1989Eight and a half turns in. 330 of the 1,040 milestones fall in the last hundred years, which is the innermost two turns, and they are still legible there.

A small library that lays out a paragraph of colourful text placeholders from a palette and a few shape rules. It is 1.9 kB gzipped and needs nothing but React. The one below is the real package, drawing in the ink you picked.
